About Us

The Ballachulish Hotel is here, just as it’s been since 1877. Waiting for you to explore – to soak in the views of Loch Linnhe, and to set your body clock to Glencoe time. The hotels back garden is without a doubt set in some of the best scenery in the world, once seen, never forgotten.

About Us>>>>
Our roots have been firmly planted in Ballachulish since 1877. Crackling fires, heart-warming brew and food for the soul (not forgetting the stomach) is what we do best. Simple.

You can find us on the shores of Loch Linnhe, a stone’s throw from some of the world’s best hikes, distilleries and castles. Step outside. Breathe in. Out. Go. Our corner of the world may be small, but there is nowhere else we would rather be.

A little frayed around the edges, but never boring, we have been welcoming travellers through our doors for generations. Explorers. Soul searchers. Time seekers. All stepping from their world into ours. Oh, and Diego the cat.

Did you know…
The architect behind Ballachulish Hotel, John Honeyman, took on Charles Rennie Mackintosh as his apprentice. Mackintosh later became the lead designer and eventually bought the practice when Honeyman retired.

Present day…
Both Ballachulish Hotel and our sister hotel, Isles of Glencoe, joined Crieff Hydro Family of Hotel in 2016 after two years under their management.

A warm welcome awaits you in our beautiful highland hotel set at the foot of Glencoe. Whatever the occasion or time of year, you'll be sure to enjoy your time with us.

Dining>>>>
The hotel's bar and bistro give you all the dining options you'll need. Go fireside for a cappuccino and a light meal, or lochside for relaxed dining by sunset.

If you’re hunting for a great place to eat out in Glencoe or Fort William, the search is over. Head to our restaurant for dinner, then settle in for a cosy night by the library fireplace where plans are hatched and good books are devoured.

Perhaps it’s afternoon tea that takes your fancy instead, with plump scones and lashings of jam. Or Sunday lunch with golden roast potatoes – crunchy on the outside, fluffy on the inside.

Accommodation Rooms>>>>
Pop down your bags, ease into an armchair. You’re finally here. Our décor is definitely more ‘richly patterned’ than ‘muted beige’. We’re also very fond of our art and antiques (yes, that radio really does work). The floating staircase has seen a visitor or two – so up and around you go. It’s there again when you’re ready to make your grand entrance, before you find yourself a favourite spot and settle in.

All of our rooms come with breakfast and, if you are feeling peckish, the option to include dinner in our lochside restaurant.

Our range of Singles, Double/Twin and Feature rooms are tastefully furnished for your comfort and reflect the location, period and history, making your stay with us an enjoyable one.

When you book direct with us you have the added benefit of using the pool and facilities at our sister hotel, The Isles of Glencoe.

Looking to have a special occasion, event or meeting? We'd love to help you organise it. Please contact the hotel directly for more information.
